May 2026 Eon Product Update

Quick Summary

  • Eon now supports AI agent integrations through MCP, enabling tools like Anthropic Claude, Open AI Codex, and Cursor to securely interact with backup infrastructure
  • New AI desktop app discovery capabilities surface usage of popular AI tools across endpoints during backup and inventory scans
  • Cost Explorer now includes a centralized overview for credit packs and historical credit activity tracking
  • Multi-Person Authorization (MPA) adds approval workflows for sensitive backup and recovery operations

Connect AI Agents via MCP

Eon now exposes its capabilities to AI agents through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI-powered tools to securely interact with backup infrastructure and operational workflows.

Supported integrations currently include Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor through MCP plugins and pre-built skills that guide agents on how to use Eon capabilities.

Key capabilities include:

  • Query backup inventory and resource snapshots
  • Trigger and monitor backup jobs
  • Discover connected accounts and backup policies
  • Interact with Eon infrastructure through natural language workflows

AI Desktop App Discovery

Eon can now detect and surface AI tool usage across your environment during regular backup and inventory workflows. This helps teams better understand where AI applications and local LLM tooling are being used across endpoints.

Currently detected applications include:

  • OpenClaw
  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Cursor
  • DeepSeek
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Ollama

Detection works by scanning known filesystem paths during existing application discovery workflows, including locations such as Windows AppData and macOS Library/Application Support.

Cost Explorer Improvements

We added a new overview experience to Cost Explorer, making it easier to understand overall credit usage and consumption trends across your environment.

New capabilities include:

  • Centralized visibility into all credit packs
  • Historical credit activity tracking
  • Improved overview and usage monitoring

Multi-Person Authorization (MPA)

Eon now supports Multi-Person Authorization (MPA), enabling organizations to enforce approval workflows for sensitive operations.

Authorization rules can require one or more approvers before critical actions execute, adding an additional human verification layer for backup, recovery, and administrative workflows.

Key benefits include:

  • Approval-based protection for sensitive operations
  • Reduced risk of accidental or malicious changes
  • Additional safeguards for cyber resilience and recovery workflows
  • Stronger operational governance and access control
