Quick Summary

  • Google BigQuery Backup support generally available (GA)
  • AWS Native PITR for RDS, including RDS instances and Amazon Aurora clusters
  • Resource-level backup policy history for full visibility into policy changes over time
  • ServiceNow as a notification destination for Eon events
  • Terraform support for restore jobs across supported GCP resources

Google BigQuery Backup (GA)

Backup for Google BigQuery is now generally available in Eon. While BigQuery is a powerful data analytics platform, its native recovery features are limited to short-term and in-region snapshots. Eon extends these capabilities, providing the long-term durability and incremental, cross-region resilience required for true enterprise data protection. Learn more.

Tl;dr: With Eon, BigQuery users now get:

  • Cost-efficient data protection that extends retention from days to years (e.g. beyond BigQuery’s native 7-day Time Travel limit) with forever-incremental backups.
  • Cross-region resilience for protection against regional outages.
  • Granular restore at the dataset, table, or record level.
  • Metadata support for backups, capturing views, routines, and materialized views.
  • Immutable, air-gapped backups and proactive ransomware detection.
  • Autonomous discovery, classification, and policy enforcement for new datasets.

AWS Native PITR for RDS

Eon now supports AWS-native PITR for Amazon RDS and Aurora, enabling you to recover from accidental deletions or data corruption by restoring to a specific second rather than a static snapshot. Eon orchestrates the entire recovery process and manages retention policies while ensuring all backup data remains securely within your own account. Learn more.

Active backup policies history

We’ve added resource-level backup policy history to the resource card to provide full visibility into policy changes over time. While drift protection monitors current status, this new history view helps you pinpoint exactly why a resource may have lacked snapshots during a specific period by showing precisely when policies were assigned or removed.

New notification destination: ServiceNow

You can now set ServiceNow as a notification destination. This allows you to integrate Eon events (e.g. ransomware detection, job failures, backup policy changes, compliance violations, vault status changes) directly into your ServiceNow workflows alongside our existing support for Slack, Splunk, email, and Amazon SNS.

Terraform Support for GCP Restores

The Eon Terraform provider now supports automated restore jobs across all GCP resource types, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery. By integrating recovery directly into your Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows, you can now orchestrate fully automated disaster recovery and testing with the same tools you use to manage your production environment.
